The Band is back! Band on the Wall unveils long-awaited launch showcase

Manchester's legendary music venue Band on the Wall is back. The venue has unveiled plans for its exciting launch celebration - aptly titled 'Back To Our Place'.

Kicking off its first season since closing over four years ago for redevelopment, Band on the Wall relaunches with Back To Our Place - a month-long international music showcase from 25 September - 31 October featuring artists from across the globe.

Highlights include an unmissable double bill of soul diva Mica Paris with legendary jazz pianist Julian Joseph, 2008 Mercury Music Prize nominated The Unthanks (Formerly Rachel Unthank & The Winter Set) and seminal funk punk pioneers A Certain Ratio. Other acts confirmed include sonic dub master Mad Professor with The Ariwa Posse and internationally acclaimed Malian ngoni player Bassekou Kouyate.

Mike Chadwick, Music Programmer at Band on the Wall said: "Band on the Wall has been really missed in Manchester so the diverse showcase is there to both celebrate its reopening with a world-class programme of artists and to give fans a great taster of what?s to come."

When Band on the Wall reopens on 25 September, it will be bigger and better than ever. New facilities will include a state-of-the-art sound system and concert grand piano, an education suite from where a series of initiatives with local schools and colleges will be run, plus audio-visual and sound studios in its new multi-use social space the Picturehouse.
