Parliamentary Jazz Award nomination for Band on the Wall Music Programmer

Mike Chadwick, Music Programmer at Band on the Wall, has been nominated for a 2009 Parliamentary Jazz Award.

Mike who lives in Blackfriars, Salford, is also a presenter at Jazz FM where he hosts his own show three times a week and is considered to be one of the few UK broadcasters actively promoting contemporary jazz, Latin, salsa and Brazilian music.

He is up for 'Jazz Broadcaster of the Year' against award-winning author and broadcaster Alyn Shipton and fellow Jazz FM presenter Sarah Ward who hosts the 'Dinner Jazz' show.

Mike said of his nomination: "It's fantastic to be up for this award and a real joy to know that my listeners are just as passionate about music as I am!

"Over the years Band on the Wall has played a key role in bringing jazz and global music to the fore in the UK and when it reopens in September it will once again be a platform for the world?s best music from every genre."

The winners of the awards, which are organised by the All Party Parliamentary Jazz Appreciation Group, will be announced at the House of Commons on 20 May. Radio and television presenter Paul Gambaccini will host the ceremony.
